FAQ

Consider these our examination under oath.

Are Skribe Transcripts Admissible in Court?

Absolutely! In 1993, the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure 30 (b) (3) were amended to allow for non-stenographic depositions, meaning no shorthand reporter or stenography. The majority of states have followed suit, adapting their laws to permit audio or video recordings to serve as the official record. Check out our Admissibility page for a full list of states that allow for non-stenographic depositions.

Yes.  Skribe’s human-proofread transcripts are 99% accurate. To put that in perspective, the National Court Reporters’ Association’s website, stenographers can be certified by achieving a 95% accuracy rate. This means that even under the best conditions, there’s an inherent 5% margin of error with traditional stenography.

Lawyers will always be lawyering, but to date, only one Skribe customer has faced an objection by opposing counsel. After hearing the motion to quash, a Texas judge ruled in our customer’s, acknowledging the deposition was noticed correctly, complied with the law governing non-stenographic depositions, and that Skribe was indeed a valid and completely permissible method of capturing testimony. We are confident that our non-stenographic approach to capturing testimony is legal and represents the future of the industry.

So, we’re making you this promise:
If a judge does not accept the Skribe record for your witness
and provides a written rejection, we’ll give you a full refund and cover the cost of obtaining a traditional stenographer’s transcript of the Skribe Record.

No, opposing counsel does not need a Skribe account to access transcripts. They will receive a secure link via email to download a complimentary read-only transcript in PDF format.
